The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum is a national monument dedicated to Ghana's first president and a key figure in African independence movements. The marble mausoleum houses the remains of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his wife, surrounded by beautiful gardens and fountains.
History
The memorial was built on the former British colonial polo grounds where Nkrumah declared Ghana's independence on March 6, 1957. The mausoleum was completed in 1992 after Nkrumah's remains were transferred from Guinea.
