About
Mole National Park is Ghana's largest and most prestigious wildlife refuge, covering 4,840 square kilometers of Guinea savanna woodland. The park is home to 93 mammal species including elephants, buffalo, waterbuck, and various antelope species. Over 300 bird species have been recorded.
History
Established as a game reserve in 1958 and upgraded to national park status in 1971. The area was historically a hunting ground for the chiefs of Gonja and Wa before colonial rule.
